Body Balance Contouring System
What is contouring?
Contouring, also known as “Profiling” or “Rockering” is a process by which the steel runner on an ice skate is grinded or shaped to allow a gradual decline of steel from the back to the front of the skate, known as the skate lie. A standard contour has a lie of 1mm. This gives the skater an additional 2 inches of knee bend. This increase in knee bend gives several advantages to the skater. First, the additional knee bend gives the skater a stronger and more balanced stride. This in turn will automatically move the players’ hands (and stick) further away from the body. When the hands are further away from the body the head of the player will tilt slightly upward creating increased vision of the ice surface.
Cost: $30 (includes contouring process, blending of steel and sharpening)
*Please allow at least 24 hours for skates to be contoured. Skates cannot be contoured right before a game or practice. Skates must be left for professionally trained staff to contour due to precision and accuracy of the process.
